It’s a fact….. the older you get the faster the time goes by, how else can you explain that it is July already. 2011 has been a shocker for many people; earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis and floods. The Rugby World Cup is coming to town and whether or not you are a rugby fan let’s embrace the challenges and be proud of our beautiful country.
In the Workshop…
Some super SUPERYACHTS have been in town this season and we are privileged to have been invited to supply a variety of covers and upholstery for many of them including Imagine, Erica 12, Maya Ray, Aquila, CV-9, Athena and Sassafras to name a few. We have also had some interesting challenges to research and find solutions.
Other jobs we have worked on this year…
-
Overall covers for the AC45 boats
-
Tender fenders for the AC45 boats
-
Fitted Juliet’s tender out with new custom upholstery
-
Sourced and imported various custom fabrics for specialised or specific jobs including a PTFE fabric for Athena’s bimini tops
-
Sourcing polystyrene sheets to replace spa pool covers
-
Poker table covers using baize
-
Supplying products for boats overseas that we have worked on in the past and have kept a record of their patterns
Boats we have provided both interior and exterior work for in the past have recently won international awards! These include Imagine II, Zefiro and Kokomo
Attention to detail…
The Boat Cover Company has always been proud of the team’s faultless attention to detail. Taking the time to scope the entire job helps us produce an item that will work well and look good. Many of our clients are Superyachts, so making a protection cover look stylish as well as perform flawlessly are important specs.
Case in point…Floor covers
Below is a picture of the corner detail of a custom fitted floor/carpet protection cover made.
The job required a precision cut to fit into a corner, with extra leather reinforcing to withstand the wear and tear expected. The fabric is Sunbrella canvas - tough, waterproof and washable. Once the cover is removed the other part of the fitting is inconspicuous.
